EXT. READING 2

THE COMPARISON BETWEEN
NEWSPAPERS AND MAGAZINES

The English-language magazines and newspapers are the media of information, and it will be interesting in comparing these kinds of reading material. Both of the print media information has differences and advantages. Let's compare it...

Magazines: e.g., Time International, Liberty, Forbes magazine, etc.
Newspapers: e.g., Jakarta Post, New York Post, The Guardian, etc

Newspapers are fresher in their content as compared to magazines. ...
The retention value of content of a newspaper is limited. Newspapers turning into magazines are rare stories and these are driven by changes in time, economy, reader interests, circulation, advertising and various other factors that drive the popularity of that particular newspaper. The magazine world is much more openly tied to advertising revenue and control of editorial content, just how powerful the advertising department is in influencing journalism's upper management; after all, they are the moneymakers.

The essential strength of a magazine is its ability to amplify. An idea, or an image, or a story, set within the pages of a magazine and assembled by the right hands, can become the grist of breakfast chatter, dinner-party conversation, or elective body debate around the world. Magazines were national, and as they became international, their power of amplification grew exponentially

A magazine-like the smart, charming gazette you hold in your hands, even in this age of electronic everything everywhere, is a marvelous invention. In America, Ben Franklin is credited with conceiving of the first such publication, in 1741. (It was called The General Magazine, and it began a trend that exists to this day-within six months it had closed its doors.) Another essential difference between newspapers and magazines is this: News-papers tell you about the world; magazines tell you about their world-and by association, your world. Writers, photographers, editors, and designers bundle the slice of the world they have chosen to explore and deliver it to you in a singularly affordable, transportable, lendable, replaceable, disposable, recyclable package. You can buy a magazine almost anywhere. Publishers will even deliver it to your door, for less than the cost of going out into the hurried street to find and purchase one.

In terms of price, newspaper is certainly cheaper and affordable, while the magazine may be purchased only by certain people. This is because the differences in pages number, papers type, appearance, and thicknesses between magazines and newspapers. Magazines usually have a specific genre, such as fashion magazines, teen magazines, automotive magazines and others, while the paper will address various topics with a more limited length of the article.

Further differences apply in the deadlines required for submitted work. A newspaper that is a daily will undoubtedly want work submitted very quickly and for a print deadline that is vital, whereas a magazine will have something of a longer deadline to its submissions.
local newspapers these tend to take the form of reviews or of comment on local issues, and can be a stepping stone to greater things. Where magazines are concerned there is less of a wide open door, for the local press tends to be geared towards the weekly newspaper.

Newspapers and magazines are the provider of information which needed by the people. They may choose both of these media or choose one of them. Their choice is depending on their needs.
